Did Somebody Say “New Missions” ?

2005 Aug 29 – Did Somebody Say “New Missions” ?

TSH announces the release of 2 campaigns and 2 mission sets, all courtesy of Major Dragon.

Persian Cats Campaign

The Persian Cats campaign is designed to recreate the air combat missions flown by Islamic Revolutionary Iranian Air Force (IRIAF) F-14 Tomcats against the Iraqi Air Force during the Iran-Iraq War, fought from 1980 to 1988. The missions included in this campaign represent a sample of the types of missions flown during this conflict and focus exclusively on the Iranian F-14’s air-to-air combat role as a fighter-interceptor. These missions are based on historical accounts.

Shores Of Tripoli

The Shores of Tripoli campaign is designed to recreate the U.S. Naval activity against Libya during the 1980s. The missions include the two engagements between F-14 Tomcats and Libyan fighter aircraft in 1981 and 1989, the successful interception of the Egyptian airliner carrying the hijackers of the cruise ship Achille Lauro, Operations Prairie Fire and El Dorado Canyon, and a fictitious strike mission against a Libyan chemical weapons plant.

Iran Strike Mission Set

The Iran Strike single mission set contains missions that are based upon the most probable scenario for air combat missions that would be flown from the USS Ronald Reagan against nuclear weapons facilities in Iran. The missions included in this set represent a sample of the types of missions that might be flown during such an operation, should the United States government determine that a pre-emptive strike against Iran’s nuclear capability is in its national interest.

Tomcats Over Iraq Mission Set

The Tomcats Over Iraq single mission set is designed to recreate the air combat missions flown from the USS Constellation and the USS Abraham Lincoln against Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The missions included in this set represent a sample of the types of missions flown by F-14 Tomcats during the operation. These missions are designed to be faithful to historical accounts.
